It was Black Friday. I know several of my friends were preparing to dash into their favorite stores where they make some savings by buying their most needed or wished or liked items. But I was not budging out to go out into the cold. After some time I just forced my mind to assimilate through my recent past, may be just a few years back. I was one of the guys to rush to such deals.
Is it all about savings? No, I don’t think so.
When I came to this country I was so jubilant and anxious to win over such deals, that too early in the cold mornings. We, I mean myself along with my friends, used to browse through all the fliers and pre-sale advertisements. We even were anxiously accepting the free subscription of Star Ledger, which is supposed to be continued on regular price later, and save all the coupons and advertisement booklets. As soon as a good deal is cited, people used to call each other to share their findings and review the worthiness of such deals.
Friend circles, family circles, workplace circles and any such circles come closer and work as teams in attaining the best priced buys. After all, the human society is made of such groups. I would say, “The shopping season brings not only new items home but also the social attitudes and happiness of buying with all the collective skill sets. I still enjoy the sweet memories of how I bought my SONY RXD7AV Home Theatre System. I waited in a long line in cold and spent talking to people in the line. Our friends had distributed among themselves to go to different sale events in different stores so that we can buy for each other and cover more sales. Isn’t it fun?
Oops. I know I am getting late to my happy moments of buying on sale. Let me say bye to you and come back with more stories.
